Nevada will celebrate its sesquicentennial tomorrow, its 150th birthday. Nevadans will mark the occasion of the anniversary of the state’s admission to the Union on October 31, 1864.

The state is called Battle Born because it was admitted to the Union during the Civil War, just days before the 1864 Presidential election. The Silver State’s constitution was sent via telegraph rather than the mail to make sure it arrived in Washington, DC soon enough so Nevada’s statehood could happen in time for its voters to participate.

During these 150 years Nevadans have converted a desolate, unforgiving desert into a place that nearly 3 million people call home. In Nevada’s early years only a handful of people occupied the Las Vegas Valley, which is now home to more than 2 million residents and hosts more than 30 million tourists each year.

Hirschi Masonry is proud to embody the innovative, forward-thinking, pioneering spirit that was responsible for this growth. As the leading masonry contractor in the Las Vegas area, our team has been a part of the region’s recovery and the homes, businesses, and other facilities that mark Las Vegas’s comeback and continued growth.

All across the Las Vegas Valley – Henderson, North Las Vegas, Downtown Las Vegas, Southern Hills, Southern Highlands, Black Mountain Vistas, Mountain’s Edge, Centennial Hills, Inspirada, Summerlin, the Las Vegas Strip, North, South, East and West – “over the hump” in Pahrump north to Moapa Valley and everywhere else in Southern Nevada, Hirschi Masonry allows general contractors, homebuilders and homeowners to Expect More.

So have a Happy Birthday, Nevada. We join you in celebrating your first 150 years and wishing for another great 150 to come.
